Leiden University understands an alumnus/alumna to be a person who has graduated from Leiden University, obtained a PhD here or followed a post-doctoral programme.
Yes, you don’t have to do anything. Your information goes into the alumni database automatically.
From then on Dutch alumni receive Leidraad, the magazine for Leiden University alumni, free of charge. If you'd like to receive the bi-monthly newsletter for alumni, you can sign up for this by using the registration form.
Every two months the Development and Alumni Relations Department of Leiden University sends out a special newsletter for international alumni, called Alumni News. You can subscribe using the registration form on this website.
Leiden University’s 'regular' international newsletter (not specifically for alumni) appears on a monthly basis. If you would like to subscribe, change your address or unsubscribe, you can use this form.
A diploma is a valuable document that the University issues only once. If a person loses his diploma, the University can only provide a certified copy of the relevant page in the examination register as a substitute. Information or a copy from the examination register is only extended to employees if the person concerned has given his consent either in writing or by fax.
You can find more information about this on the Diplomas & Transcripts page.

Anyone who has graduated with a bachelor’s or master’s or who has received a doctorate from Leiden University can continue to use the services of Leiden University Libraries (UBL).
Everything you need to know can be found on the UBL website.
Every student who graduates after 31 August 2006 retains access to his ULCN account.
This means that:
Your uMail account remains active
With your ULCN account you can request a LU Card for the University Library (you can also keep your student LU Card, and reactivate it at the University Library's information desk)
You can log on to university work places
You can enter the University Library catalogues from any university work place (not from home!)
To safeguard the security of your account, you will regularly be asked to change your password. You will find more information about ULCN and uMail here. Please direct your questions or comments to Plexus.
Have you lost touch with friends or acquaintances? You can look them up using the Leiden University Fund’s LeidenAlumni.nl network.
LeidenAlumni.nl has grown to include over 62,000 names of former Leiden University students. The search criteria you can use include name, address, year started, year graduated and information about what they studied.
You can also join the Alumni Leiden University alumni group on LinkedIn. This group (with more than 16,000 alumni) was set up by Leiden University to make it easy for Leiden University alumni to connect with each other and use those contacts for commercial and private purposes.
If you no longer wish to receive the digital newsletter, you can unsubscribe using the unsubscribe link at the bottom of each newsletter.
