Examinations and the Leiden Museum Night: ‘Nagging is for wimps'

On June 30th the Leiden museums (rather than the Leiden bars) will form the stage for a summer-time Saturday night. There is plenty to do at the Leiden Museum Night, from watching a tattoo at the Anatomical theatre to abseiling in the Pieterskerk. The event is organised by students, and if you buy your ticket in advance you get a € 2.50 discount.


Holland Alumni Conference 2011

On 26 and 27 May, Holland alumni from all over the world gathered in The Hague at the Holland Alumni Conference. This two-day conference was organised by Nuffic and commissioned by the Dutch Ministry of Education, Culture and Science and the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs.


Impressive freedom lecture by Hanan Ashrawi

Admiration and respect. That is what Hanan Ashrawi earned with her freedom lecture on 17 June in a crowded Pieterskerk. Ashrawi, impressive advocate of an independent Palestinian state, put her point across with poetry and even with humour.

Hanan Ashrawi to give Leiden Freedom Lecture 2011

The Leiden Freedom Lecture will be delivered on Friday 17 June in the Pieterskerk in Leiden by Hanan Ashrawi, champion of the peaceful liberation of the Palestinian territories occupied in 1967.  Ashrawi is an active advocate of human rights and of the broadening of democracy within the Palestinian Authority.
